    Wooden Crafts for Kids

The following wooden crafts for kids are broken down into two categories - simple crafts you can make at home right now with wood you have on hand, and where to buy wood craft kits. Since wood is not something that's not always easily picked up in a craft store, the craft kit suggestions might help you out if you are in need of some ideas for wooden crafts for kids to make. If you have wooden crafts for kids you don't see here, please be sure to submit your own idea!

    Wood Crafts To Make

    Decorated Picture Frames
    What You'll Need:
    - One flat picture frame (Metal or Wood)
    - Acrylic Paint
    - Paint Brush
    - Wood or Foam Cutouts (can be purchased at any craft store)
    - Any additional decorations
    - Hot glue gun (or wood glue if you are using wood frames)

Be sure to remove the glass from the picture frame. You don't want glue or paint on it! Paint your wood cutouts in various colors and styles, or just decorate your foam cutouts. Glue on your decorations and leave overnight to dry. The sky is the limit with these wooden crafts for kids! You can use decorations for any time of year, occation, or person.

    Kids Picture Frames
    What You'll Need:
    - Popsicle Sticks
    - Picture
    - Glue or Hot Glue Gun
    - Paint
    - Glitter Pens
    - Additional Decorations (glitter, stickers, etc)

This is a pretty basic craft which I think we all have done at some point in time. You may not think popsicle sticks are technically wood, but we thought they belonged here anyway. You'll want clean popsicle sticks to start with, so best to pick these up from the craft store.

Lay out your sticks around the picture so you have an idea of where you'll be painting. Take a marker or pen to make a mark on where the glue will be going. Paint your sticks and let dry, then put your picture frame together. Decorate the front with any additional supplies before gluing the picture on to the frame.

    Wooden Craft Kits

Sometimes the best wooden crafts for kids come from kits. If you are in need of specific wooden craft kits, the best place to look is S&S Worldwide. There are simply too many to name here and they are always updating, so it's best to take a look for yourself. You might find some other great craft kits here as well. The best part of this site is the price - craft kits of any kind are VERY affordable, often times costing under a doller per craft. Worth checking out!
