    Clay Magnets
    by Sonya Tomey
    www.mamat-creations.com

    What You'll Need:
SculpeyT Clay - (found in the craft section at wal-mart)
    Soap or candy molds
    Disposable baking pan
    Talcum powder or baby powder
    paint brush
    Acrylic Paint
    magnets
    Clear Gel Tacky Glue

Take a sprinkle of powder and put dust the inside of the mold completely. Make sure its a thin bit of powder just so the clay will release.

Press a good amount in the mold and make sure its in all the nooks and such. Take a craft knife or something to clear off the excess clay around the clay. use a little bit of the clay to pull out the clay that is in the mold. Make sure to do it carefully as not to loose the shape from the mold and lay it back flat on the baking sheet. Do this with the rest of the molds and as many as you like. Place in oven for the recommended baking time and then once done turn off the oven and leave oven door open a hair as to let the warmth vent out and cool. After about 30 min take out the now baked clay and get ready to have some fun with the paint. Now attach the magnets to each one on the flat parts using the Tacky Glue and let dry completely before you paint.

You can use any Acrylic paint and at least coat it 2 times with the paint or more if you see light spots on it. After finished cover with varathane or you can buy a Polyglaze in your local craft store. Put 2 coats on and let dry completely and you are done. You now have your own personally made magnet that is great for anyone.

    Clay Necklace
    Clay
    String, Yarn, or Chain
    Paint

The best part about this easy clay craft is it gives kids a chance to really use their imagination. To start, make your clay into any shape or design you want. Be sure to leave a hole at the top for your string/yarn/chain to go through. Let the piece completely dry, then paint. You can also add other decorations to the necklace pendant.
